Interior decoration trend: Trompe-l’oeil

(Winter dots plates, West Elm) Cose che sembrano qualcos'altro: uno dei trucchi meglio riusciti in fatto di dècor d'interni. Coriandoli nel piatto del dessert? Sì, ma dipinti a mano. Un muro rivestito di lana? E invece è carta da parati. La radio dal look nostalgico? Bella, soprattutto perchè ci puoi collegare l'iPod. (Tryco wallpaper, Koziel)

Snug

Snug is a design studio based in Hannover. Their products are absolutely poetic: cloud-shaped kitchen stuff, wooden jewelry and lamps that in their past life were cups. Check out their site here (pics from snug blog).

nyc review – BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE

There's a new roastery in town and we're in love. 160 Berry Street, you might mistake it for a warehouse front like any other in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. But make no mistake ladies and gents, half roastery and half coffee bar, BlueBottleCoffee has migrated from the west coast and is drawing in the coffee lovers by large handfuls.  And they come in all forms - band members discussing their music, mothers carrying their babies, a New York sculptor and a Parisian architect catching up, Williamsburg grunge-sters needing their fashionably complimenting paper coffee cups. It may be the definite sound of NYC indie music leaking through the space. Or the smell of roasting coffee, throwing a grin on your face before you even order at the bar. White marble, dark woods, neutral grays and gleaming steel sets the stage for the caffeinated creations.  There's the sound of coffee beans being poured out of burlap sacks and the Marzocco gurgling away happily. A lineup of eight hand drip coffee stations hold their glistening ceramic pieces, winking in the light. A side wall showcases a glass and metal laboratory for slow drip coffee. It just might succeed in giving even the most wizened caffeine junkie, a proper heart jolt! Don't exclude yourself from this dream!

Hotel Moschino

Lychener Str., mid block just south of Helmholtzplatz hides Signorina Yv.  It's a mixture of vibes, neither homey nor exclusively posh, resting comfortably in between the Standard Hotel and your typical Parisian bar.  An elderly couple enjoy the rare sunshine, sunglasses on, still chic.  A young mother looks after her son, her demeanor is as if with a history in modeling.  An oversized gray sweater accented with a green scarf cycles by.  A light blue suit walks in, the silk peeking out of his coat pocket speaks volumes.  A roll of paper in hand, he takes a seat, a teddybear as his companion on the white bench by the window front.  Touches of red and pink accent the space.  The soft music, the sparkling glasses, wooden furniture, flowers, the smell of freshly ground coffee - all quite disarming; One can spend hours in this little space...say with an Auster or a Fforde? Friends chitchat at the counter, each customer greeted with a smile, and the owner waves to locals strolling by.  Morning croissants are fantastic here with some jam and the coffee??...well the customers keep coming back all day long so INCLUDE YOURSELF!

La Cima Coat Hanger

A line between earth and sky – an escape route – the harmonious yin-yang balance – recollections of a sea-crossing and getting to a safe harbour. Vestibule, bathroom, kids’ room, bedroom, studio, restaurant. Wall or ceiling-mounted clothes-hanger in pleated nautical rope. Rubik’s Table

Barceloneta

The Italian brand, Serralunga, in collaboration with designer Raffaella Mangiarotti (deepdesign) redesigned this classic piece, making it both innovative, comfortable and for the first time, practical to use outdoors. Serralunga's revisioin makes the chair easy to stack, thus, a great space-saver, especially for contract use by substituting the quilted leather with the practicality of plastic while still keeping the ?capitonnè' effect for the backrest. The allure of this classic piece was made possible through the use of plastic materials in a sophisticated rotating molding system, a technique in which the Biella company is the worldwide leader as furniture manufacturer.

Clamp

Clamp is a suspension lamp designed by Enrico Zanolla and Andrea Di FIlippo of DZstudio. The inspiration comes from the pattern of Chesterfield sofas (Capitonné) applied to the exterior surface of the lamp. The contrast between the smooth interior and the sophisticated, deep buttoned exterior is ideal for a modern interior space with a touch of glamour and classic style.
