The creative chemistry of four brilliant artists – drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Kreiger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, and singer Jim Morrison – made The Doors one of America’s most iconic and influential rock bands. When You’re Strange is the first feature documentary to tell their story. Using footage shot between their formation in 1965 and Morrison’s death in 1971, it follows the band from the corridors of UCLA’s film school, where Manzarek and Morrison met, to the stages of sold-out arenas.

Taking its title from the cabaret-tinged Doors hit “People Are Strange,” the film chronicles the creation of The Doors’ six landmark studio albums in just five years, as well as their electrifying live performances. Rare cinèma vèritè footage offers an intimate glimpse into their musical collaboration – and their offstage lives.

“Please watch your step” by japanese artist Yasuhiro Suzuki was one of four public installations organized by the digital public art project at the haneda airport in toyko. suzuki’s floating human shaped balloon was an experiment in getting users to participate in public art. for many, airports can be a place devoid of human emotion with its vast size and long waiting periods. this site intervention hoped to evoke a positive response from by passers and provide an element of humor and surprise to their journey.

‘it’s important for people to experience and participate in public art, but you can’t get everyone in an airport to do so. however, when I think of the sight of people enjoying my work and some of the others, [I feel that] I want a lot of airport visitors to enjoy the art exhibit.‘ – YS

‘Please watch your step’ is part of ‘technology to create digital art’, a research proposal selected by japanese science and technology agency (JST CREST). it is currently being exhibited at the cyber arts japan exhibition, which celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the ars electronica festival in linz, austria. the show will be on display until march 22 at the museum of contemporary art, Tokyo. | Via

“The Devil and I” will be the name of the album by Paul Marshall under the new name of Lone Wolf, a debut powered by Bella Union.  This is the video realised for the launch of the first single “Keep your eyes on the road” thanks to the collaboration of Ashely Dean, the popular animator of the Broken Pixel methods. It wants to be an homage to Peter Gabriel’s video “Sledgehammer” (1986) that has been considered the best animated video into music history until now. Good sounds, great video! We are waiting for the complete L0ne Wolf’s album!

One hundred pages, 16 x 24 cm in size, a cover encompassing front-to- back the magazine within the horizon of a single click: RearViewMirror – published by Postcart – is a new quarterly magazine dedicated to documentary photography. In the bulls’ eye of its target, RVM puts photojournalistic reportage, explored, even beyond traditional codes, with various approaches: hardly reassuring, more unexpected (and less prone to mainstream publishing specifications), provided it remains faithful to the magazine’s declared vocation of telling stories. Photography is a language, an exercise in selecting one’s own point of view, a criterion of knowledge of the world we live in, an access key to its surprising places, unfamiliar lives and untraveled roads

Starting from the cover, RVM follows a storytelling thread: choosing a shot which, all by itself, makes up a story. But is also a door ajar on a broader photographic work which will not dwell in RVM printed pages, but will lead readers directly to the website www.rearviewmirror.it, an extension of the magazine’s structure offering a wider field of view.
