Cockette

San Francisco, 31 december 1969: with their first performance on stage, the performer group called Cockettes is officially born.  Trough 60s hippie rebellion and political revolution of 70s by Harvey Milk, these “psychedelic drag queen” makes of freedom their flag.  Self-irony, extravagance, glitter, beard, high heels and muscles: there are no rules into Cockette’s aesthetic.  The continuous research into fashion, music, performance become outrageous mainstreams’ parodies, LSD’s dancing, fabulous dresses.  GENDERFUCK! is their slogan: a cult is born.  30 years before, in a grey Milan, a group called Cockette (clearly inspired by the concept of San Francisco’s performers) wants to create a new way to live the night.  Prepare yourself: the best techno, electro and acid house around by Max_M, Gigi LP, PierDJ and Dotknot will make you dance all night long in the big Black Hole’s dancefloor.  MAIVIDEO vj-set will create psychedelic colours and fluid signs.  Do you wanna dance all night long and get drunk with good music and heterofriendly people? Are you crazy and open-minded enough?  OK, then Cockettes are waiting for you ;)

LaRoboterie 25 aprile: MILANO

25aprile

Last but not least St. Robot, instancabile “electrico” resident DJ de LaRoboterie.

LaRoboterie: the place to be (and get lost) è il 25 aprile al Tunnel Club. Ore 00:00…. MILANO.

YOYO CREATIVO

bbbcn1

The “hot thing” in last fairs and events has been a 100% Spanish creation: everybody talked about Victoria by YoYócreativo. Presented in Barcelona’s Bread&Butter 09 and reproposed in MICAM MODACALZADO fairs, the stand of Spanish company Victoria created by YoYócreativo has been acclaimed like one of the best. The philosophy of YoYóCreativo aka Josep Ruà Blasco and Nelly Dominguez de Juan, could be summed in “slow innovation”. In fact, always searching for young and innovative languages, the duo of spanish interior designers don’t forget their spanish roots, lined with the conception of “slow design”.  The result is a mix of simple lines, sophisticated shape, mediterrean colours and explosive creativity. In the case of the collaboration with Victoria shoes, this could happen also thanks the presence of two of the most creative and innovative illustrators right now: Marta Abad Blay and Valero Doval, both spanish but contaminated from dutch and english culture, transform space into a captivating Wonderland.  Totally hand-made and unique, in opposition with triviality and pre-fabricated design: this is the new idea of the fair’s space that shows the potentiality of ephemeral architecture, but above all is the perfect interpretation of the mood of Victoria’s new collection: optimism, colour and energy are the key-words.

A Sanctuary in the heart of London

top-mast-photo-about-us2
Living in London is not so good for beauty. Everybody knows it’s one of the stressfull cities in Europe, and London ladies don’t have so much time to take a break from their duties.
Thanks to God, an help is given by the “The Sanctuary“, a “ladies only spa” situated in 12 Floral Street, 2 minutes from Covent Garden. Born around 30 years ago, the spa was especially attended by female dancers of the nearby Royal Opera House looking for a nice break and invigorating massages.

Maurizio Fiorino

picture-51

Maurizio Fiorino shoots.
His father, giving him a camera, said: “use it like a gun”. And so, the young Italian photographer, letting behind him never-ended universities and the suffocating Italian provincialism, shoots in all New York. His portraits are clean, without any filters, sensual: his “boys of life” are guys that we could meet everywhere, but they’re dangerously handsome. They’re also and above all auto-portraits. Seems like merciless mirrors, acting on the ubiquitous background of an urban and crazy metropolis like New York. Colours are saturated ands noisy: a little bit of “Godard yellow” knocked down on a Pasolini’s “ragazzo di vita”, trough echoes of an American underground a-là-Terry Richardson.

Cédric Jacquemyn

print_01

The next big thing in fashion is, without any doubt, Cédric Jacquemyn.  This young student at Antwerp Fashion Academy is part of the Belgian fashion scene, one of the most interesting and creative in these years. His work is the result of research and synthesis of an explosive creativity, inspirations that comes from art (he’s also a painter) filtered trough futuristic shape and clear cuts. This seems to comes out from a suggestive dream, tickling our imagination with a strong appeal.  The works for the first grade were already published in the Russian “Dazed & Confused” magazine; the second grade collection received the “sublime” comment and a prize from Walter Van Beirendonck, that is the most creative and innovative fashion designer of the last years.  Here we can see a preview of his third grade collection: searching for inspiration, Cédric went to Iceland where overwhelming colours and landscapes let extreme freedom to his creativity.  More on his website www.cedricjacquemyn.be.

Karl Addison-Partybots

Karl Addison was born in 1982 in Denver but lived in Arizona where he studied at a graphic design school. His t-shirt and accessories business started because he “wanted to figure out how Paypal works”, but when he sees that some glamorous New York ladies were interested, Karl stopped seeing t-shirts creations like an hobby. He currently lives and works on this business in Washington and all his creations are 100% ORGANIC: he uses soy solvents, water based platen glues and so on.

Yves De Brabander

Yves De Brabander was born in 1976 in Blankenberge, a village on the belgian sea-side, but he moved to Antwerp, the coolest city of Belgium, and he still lives there. He graduated (cum laude) in photography at the KoG Hogheschool. His work draws a direct inspiration from ‘80s culture: trashy, funky, dreamy, kinky are his key-words. Now he works for fashion as well as for personal projects (e.g. “Ecce Homo”, an art/photography project for the “Culture for Tolerance Festival” in Cracow). His highlights include photos of people like Jane Birkin and Vive la Fete.
