For the launch of their newest shoe galleries, the British department store Selfridges asked Dutch creative duo Lernert and Sander (you might remember them from this MTV promo video) to create 11 window displays with their personal take on this fashion fetish. Quite a far cry from the glitz and glam of high-end fashion, the artists found ironic inspiration in home appliances. In their own words: “We have taken the most mundane of household domestic appliances and comedically refashioned them into divine creations. A humorous take on fashion as an ideal escape from the daily grind.”
