MBFW 2011 – Plauener Spitze + Irene Luft

We witness a german winter and yet the onset of spring with this year’s show from Plauener Spitze in collaboration with Irene Luft. Or perhaps a contemporary take on Natoire’s “Le Reveille de Venus”? Transparency and opacity intersect as the designers play a hide and seek game with the primary use of lace. The absolute lack of color in the presentation – with arguable exceptions of warm grays – forces the designs to rely entirely on the relationship between design and an intimacy to the human body, fabric versus nudity, darkness versus breathable airiness, indeed a contradiction at play. A concise yet elegant presentation!
